Noel W Yantis
(July 10, 1923 – September 13, 2016)
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Robert “Bob” Daughtery officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Tree of Life Christian Center, Sullivan, IL or Saving Orphaned Animals.
Noel was born on July 10, 1923 in Findlay, IL the son of Ralph Delmar and Mary Porta (Walker) Yantis. He graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1941. Noel married Wylma Ruth Lewis on January 1, 1948. He loved farming and farmed in the Findlay area for many years. Noel was also a Funk’s Seed Corn dealer and an agent for Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company. Noel enjoyed life, especially spending time with his family, going to auctions, playing cards, listening to music, riding in the car and visiting with people in his daughter’s shop, The Wooden Flower, in Taylorville, IL. He was a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau. Noel was a kind and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his daughters, Altona Marie Potter and husband William Paul Potter, Sr. of Sullivan, IL and Twyla Ruth Helms and husband Dan of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren, Laura Kopp, Joshua Kopp, Alicia Israel and husband Jason, Melissa Russell and husband Michael, Samantha Baker and husband Adam, Paul Potter, Jr. and Paula “Sissy” Neathery and husband Rob; and great grandchildren, Aiden Kopp, Tristen Kopp, Layla Israel, Collin Israel, Gill Russell, Woodson Russell, Noah Baker and Luke Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth on October 23, 2008; brother, Myron Yantis; and sister, Norma Dean “DeDe” Yantis.
