Nohl Q Switzer
(January 30, 1926 – September 10, 2006)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Born on January 30, 1926, Nohl was the youngest child of Don D. and Amanda E. (Slifer) Switzer. Nohl served our country in WWII in the U. S. Navy aboard the LSM 333 in the Pacific theater. He married Elvera M. Stuckemeyer on May 6, 1950, and the couple made their home in Shelbyville where they were active members of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Nohl worked for DX-Sunoco Oil Company in Shelbyville until his retirement.
Nohl is survived by his wife, Elvera, and their two sons, Steven William Switzer of Hollywood, FL, and Roger Nohl Switzer and wife Deborah (Townsend) of Vancouver, WA. Nohl is also survived by sisters, Donna Steineman of Stewardson and Sue Jakubowski and husband, Larry, of Clinton Township, MI.
Nohl is preceded in death by sister, Fern Beitz and brothers, Doyle and Darrell Switzer.
