Paul Dean Denton, 53, of Windsor, IL, passed away at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in his residence surrounded by those he loved.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery on Williamsburg Hill, near Lakewood, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois for the patient services department.

Paul was born on April 22, 1960 in Mt. Zion, IL, the son of Warren and Ruby Fisher Denton. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School in the Class of 1978. He served in the Army National Guard, Co B 44th Avn Bn (CBT), Decatur, IL. Paul was an over the road truck driver for 21 years, a job he loved, and was better known by the CB handle “Turtle”. He married Judith Irene Miller Smith on September 2, 1988 in St. Louis, MO. Paul was a member of the National Rifle Association and a life member of the North American Hunting Club. He did not attend any certain church, but he lived his life as a Christian. Paul never met a stranger and would help anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Judi; step-son, Rudy Smith and wife Kristia of Stewardson; step-daughter, Heidi Nees of Tower Hill; seven grandchildren, Jori Nees, Kody Nees, Lacey Spencer, Jake Spencer, Cody Friese, Whitney Smith and Kassidy Smith; three great grandchildren, Aaron Nees, Khloe Beck and Malakye Nees and another due in November; brother, Cecil Denton and wife Gayle of Springfield; sister, Caroline Carter and husband Paul of Pontiac; nephew, Rusty Clemons; and niece, Jessica Clemons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Judy Clemons.
