Paul James Heyob, 51, of Shelbyville, formerly of Elburn, IL, passed away at 6:21 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Sullivan, IL.

Paul was born on August 17, 1962 in Sycamore, IL, the son of Anthony and Jean Turk Heyob. He graduated from Kaneland High School in Maple Park, IL in the Class of 1980. He married Judy Whetzel on June 9, 2001. Paul and his wife, Judy, owned and operated The Angler Bait Shop at Coon Creek Campground from 2006-2013. Paul was also a former employee at the Ace Hardware Store in Shelbyville. Paul was a member of the Shelbyville Moose Lodge and the Shelby Sports Club. He loved fishing, boating, and hanging out with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; brothers and sisters, David Heyob of Maple Park, IL, Susan Stanley and husband Charles of DeKalb, IL, Karen Signorella and husband Michael of Maple Park, IL, Sandra Luhtala and husband Thomas of Oshkosh, WI, Patricia Hjelmberg and husband Vern of Sycamore, IL, Michael Heyob and wife Chris of Maple Park, IL, Charlie Heyob and girlfriend Amy of Maple Park, IL, Kevin Heyob and wife Laura of Kirkland, IL and Cindy Heyob of DeKalb, IL; daughter, Nikki (Heyob) Schmidt and husband Will of DeKalb, IL; step-daughter, Nicole Enck and fiancé Troy of Balsam Lake, WI; grandchildren, Wyatt and Dane Schmidt of DeKalb, IL and Tyler and Dylan Jones of Balsam Lake, WI; father-in-law, Fred Whetzel and wife Amy of Shelbyville; mother-in-law, Pam Jahns and husband Dick of Oregon, IL; brothers-in-law, Monty Jahns and wife Chris of Sugar Grove, IL and Richard Jahns of Cortland, IL; sisters-in-law, Anna Mainhart and husband Tom of Elburn, IL and Dawn Griswold and husband Phil of Dixon, IL; and many nieces and nephews including Colin & Logan Griswold of Dixon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Roger and Joseph Heyob.

The family would like to thank the Cancer Care Center in Decatur, IL, Dr. Velasco, Dr. Ulis, the ladies at the Shelbyville Wal-Mart Pharmacy, and the nurses at Shelby Home Health Care.
