Paul L Connors

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with flag presentation by the Shelby County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville.
Paul was born on January 6, 1933 in Assumption, IL, the son of Lyle and Ann (Vorgic) Connors. Paul graduated from Assumption High School in the Class of 1951. After high school, Paul joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served for four years until 1956 as a Jet Engine Technician, during the Korean War. While serving in the Air Force, Paul traveled the world playing football for the Air Force. After the service, Paul attended Coyne Electric School in Chicago, IL. After school, Paul established many successful careers, first as an Insurance and Real Estate Agent for 10 years, followed by 25 years at Firestone in Decatur, IL. During this time, Paul met his soulmate, Nancy Moyer, and the two were married on February 9, 1957 and shared 60 years of happy and loving marriage together.
Paul loved sports, especially football, golf and basketball. Paul and Nancy also loved being snow birds for 28 years in Florida. He was a 35 year member of the Shelbyville Lions Club and a member of the First Christian Church. Paul enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the bridge club and was also involved in the Gourmet Club. His hobbies included watching sports, playing golf, reading, spending time with family and friends and he especially loved watching beautiful sunsets.
Paul is survived by his son, Mike Connors (Brandy) of Land O’Lakes, FL; daughter, Beth Hoegger (Harry) of Heyworth, IL; and four grandchildren, Ashley and Connor Hoegger and Olivia and Abigail Connors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; and two brothers, Bill and Bob Connors.
Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
