Pearl Rosine

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Nathan Jesse officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Pearl and twin brother, Walter, were born on March 21, 1925 in Windsor, IL, to William Dudley and Martha Elizabeth (Davis) Edwards. Her maternal grandparents were William Jasper Granger and Mary Jane (Turrentine) Davis of Sand Creek, Windsor, IL. Paternal grandparents were Francis Eugene and Clara Pathenia (Fry) Edwards of Decatur, IL.

Pearl and twin, Walter, were the youngest of eight children, which included Agnes Eugenia Rentfrow Ground; Francis Leon Edwards; William Donaldwood Edwards, Kenneth Eugene Edwards; Lillian Ruth Edwards Wickiser; and Clara Edith Edwards Loyd.

Pearl spent most of her married years as a homemaker. Before she was married, she worked at Jones’ café in Windsor while attending school in Windsor, IL. After leaving school, she went to work at the garment factory in Mattoon, IL until her marriage at age. 22.

Pearl married William Harmon Rosine of Strasburg, IL on December 13, 1947 in Shelbyville, IL by Reverend Blankenship. They were married for 46 years until Bill passed away on January 16, 1994.

Pearl and William had four children. Roxa Ann Rosine of Shelbyville, IL, Patricia Lynn Rosine Stephens of Shelbyville, IL, William Dennis Rosine of Toledo, IL and Harold Dean Rosine of Charleston, IL. Pearl and Bill have five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Pearl was preceded in death by husband William; brothers, Francis (Bud), Donaldwood (Donald), Kenneth at age 2 yrs.; and sisters, Agnes Rentfrow Ground, Ruth Wickiser and Edith Loyd.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Rosine and Patricia (Clem) Stephens all of Shelbyville, IL; sons, Dennis (Sheila) Rosine of Toledo, IL and Harold Rosine of Charleston, IL; former daughter-in-law, Rosemary Rosine of Lerna, IL; twin brother, Walter (Helen) Edwards of Metamora, IL: grandchildren, Cindy Dawn Wiback of Windsor, IL, Robert Edward Smith of Shelbyville, IL, Clinton Douglas Rosine of Mattoon, IL, Aaron Matthew Rosine of Mattoon, IL and William Dean of Charleston, IL; several great grandchildren; and special close friends and neighbors, Clifford and Linda Williamson of Shelbyville, IL.

Pearl still drove her car until her 84th birthday on March 21, 2009. She was an avid reader of romance books and loved country music, especially Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. All of whom she saw in various concerts and made visits to Nashville to tour their homes and visit the Grand Ole Opry. Pearl loved to go on driving trips to surrounding states to see the sites, especially in the fall when the leaves changed colors. Pearl also loved to feed the ducks at the park in Shelbyville, to watch her hummingbird feeder for annual visitors and to take several short drives during the week, through the city and countryside of Shelbyville. Pearl and her daughter, Ann, would take rides through town, up over the dam, by the cemetery to wave and say hello to her husband and others, through the city park, out past the high school, past REA and the 4-H fairgrounds, through the country, back out onto Rt. 16, west of Walmart, through the Walmart parking lot, then into town through the County Market parking lot, back through town and other city streets and then home. Pearl just liked to look at the town, people and cars to see what was going on. Pearl always said if Walmart ever got robbed and they were looking for a red car, the cops would be knocking on her door, because she and Ann could be found on the Walmart lot security cameras almost every day.

Pearl was greatly loved and will be forever missed by family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of HSHS Good Shepard Hospital, their heart and cancer specialists on the 3rd floor, Home Health staff and her long time personal physician, Dr. Oligschlaeger, who saw her through a heart attack when she was in her 70’s, to kidney cancer surgery in the 1990’s to several bouts of illness and heart failure into her 90’s. Their time and care were greatly appreciated.
