Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham, IL with Pastor John Hollis officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday in the church, with the first hour set aside for family. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday in Audubon Cemetery in Pope County, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to the Stewardson Ambulance Service, Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church, Effingham, IL and Unity Free Will Baptist Church, Bradley, IL.
Phyllis was born on October 25, 1942 in Wayland Springs, TN, the daughter of William and Mary Hickman Powell. She married James B. Fairfield on April 16, 1960 in Melrose Park, IL. Phyllis was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church in Bradley, IL and attended Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham, IL.
She is survived by her husband, James; son, Zach Fairfield of Bourbonnais, IL; daughters, Tammy (Rich) Long of Bradley, IL, Jessica (Mike) Crabtree of Shelbyville, IL and Katie (Josh) Fairfield-Dandurand of Strasburg, IL; brother, William Powell, Jr. of Hartsell, AL; grandchildren, Russ (Mara) Fairfield of Effingham, IL and Kimber Jackson of Bourbonnais, IL; and the apples of her eye, her great grandchildren, Peyton, Skylar and Kylee Dandurand, Tristan and Kira Fairfield and Leah and Alessa Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
