With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Priscilla Jean Walker, age 79; loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all those lives she touched, on November 6, 2021 at 11:25 am at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, with her family by her side. Jean was born June 7, 1942 to Herbert and Mar y (Young) Bible, in Louisville, KY.   She married her high school sweetheart, William E. Walker September 29, 1961 in Bible Grove, IL.  He survives.

Jean graduated from Louisville North Clay H.S.  She worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Sullivan, IL, managed a restaurant, and worked in the hardware store in Strasburg, IL, before retiring from International Paper in Shelbyville, after 28 years of service there.  Jean was a long-time member of Strasburg United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities.

Jean loved to love on people. Her hands were rarely still.  She shared her love with food, always cooking amazing meals, planting and harvesting a large garden, canning and baking many favorites for the grands, like blackberry cobbler and cherry pie!  She will be sorely missed by so many.

Jean is survived by her husband, “Bill” of 60 years, son, Michael (Jackie) Walker of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Teresa (Jerry) Ginger of Mattoon, IL;  shared son, Mike (Peggy) Giertz of Gays, IL; grandsons, Jake (Aiko) Reed of San Diego, CA, Josh (Angela) Reed of Belmont, OH, Brady Walker of St. Clairsville, OH, Seth (Megan) Coy of Mattoon, IL; granddaughter, Aundee Coy of Mattoon, IL;  and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Nelson of Olney, IL ,Vicki (Robert) McGee of Effingham, IL; brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Bible of Louisville, IL; brothers-in-law, Jake (Arilla) Walker of Louisville, IL; Charles Culver of Strasburg, IL, Noble Walker of Clay City, IL; sisters-in-law Kay (Jim) Taylor of Paris, IL; Ruth Lashbrook of Haubstadt, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law, Betty Belleville, Mary Britton, Janet Culver; brothers-in-law, Larry Nelson, Charles Walker, Don Belleville, and Larry Britton; and grandson, Jordan Giertz.

Help us celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg, IL, with Mike Giertz officiating.  Visitation will be from noon – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to St. Louis Haven House (memo: c/o Jordan Giertz Memorial Fund).
