Ralph F. Price, 84, of Mt. Zion, formerly of Shelbyville, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2007 at 10:55 p.m. in Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Decatur, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Mr. Price was born on March 25, 1922 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the son of James A. and Mabel I. Stretch Price. He married Gladys Ragan on June 12, 1948 and to this union one child was born, Darla Lawrence. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was in the Field Artillery at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Fist United Methodist Church of Decatur, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and Moose Lodge #1294 both of Shelbyville, and Golden Kiwanis of Decatur. He volunteered at the First United Methodist Church, The Good Samaritan Inn, Golden Kiwanis, and the Decatur Airport. He was a tool and die maker and a pattern maker for many years. He liked to bowl, work in his garage with tools, and wood working. He was a very caring man and always had a smile for everyone. He will be greatly missed.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Gladys; daughter, Darla and husband Scott Lawrence of Decatur; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Noel, Ray and Paul Price.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur, the nurses and staff who took care of him, hospice for their care, Dr. Ahmad, and the hospitals.
