Ralph Raymond Reel, 86, of Windsor and Strasburg, died at 10:38 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006 in St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday in the church and one hour before services on Saturday. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg. Arrangements by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
Mr. Reel was born on August 6, 1919 in Strasburg, Illinois, the son of Clyde Emmet and Nita Elizabeth Rincker Reel. He was a farmer, raised several breeds of cattle: Red Poll, Galloway, Red Angus and Normande and imported cattle from England and Scotland. He also showed cattle at more than twenty different State Fairs and many County Fairs. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg. Ralph enjoyed sports, and was a loyal fan of the University of Illinois and the Chicago Cubs. He married Nancy Doehring on November 22, 1975.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; sons, Roger Reel, Richard Reel and John Reel and wife Cathy all of Strasburg; daughter, JoAnn Klepzig and husband James of Shelbyville; sister, Juanita Rankin and husband Allen of Strasburg; sister-in-law, Evelyn Reel of Strasburg; six grandchildren, Laura Dabezic and husband Dino of Plainfield, Michael Klepzig of Shelbyville, Jennifer Buening and husband Brian of Sigel, and Richard Reel II, Jeremy Reel, and Courtney Reel all of Strasburg; and one great grandson, Dilen Dabezic of Plainfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Ruby Reel; and sister and brother-in-law, Etta and Carl Stremming.
