Raymond D. Stewardson, 91, of Shelbyville, died at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville. Visitation from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Friday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Mr. Stewardson was born on December 3, 1919 in Middlesworth, IL, the son of Chester and Ida Helton Stewardson. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of WW II, serving in the Aleutian Islands from February 1942 until January 1946. When he returned from military service he began working for The M. J. Wilson Auto Company in Shelbyville as a mechanic. He married Iola H. Tiemann on April 21, 1946. Raymond was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville and an avid motorcyclist.

Surviving are his wife, Iola; children, Donna Stewardson, Chester Stewardson and wife Eleanor, Carl Stewardson and wife Linda, and Wilma Boys all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Dawn Reed and husband Mike of Windsor, Beverly Bryson and husband Tim of Mattoon, Chris Stewardson of Killeen, TX, Curt Stewardson and wife Rachel of Shelbyville, Becky Mahaffey and husband David of Illiopolis, and David Boys and wife Jodi of Mode; great grandchildren, Jessica Richardson, Josh Richardson, Brittany Stewardson, Collin Stewardson, Alicia Kingery, Robert Bryson, William Bryson, Dawson Boys, and Caleb Stewardson; step great grandchildren, Jonathon Woods and Hannah Mahaffey; and great great grandchildren, Tayven Vaughn, Zayden Vaughn, and Jayden Kingery.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
