Reese Jelkes
(December 4, 1959 – April 15, 2021)

Reese Jelkes, 62, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Reese was born on December 4, 1959 in Chicago, IL, the son of Edith M. Jelkes. Reese proudly served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a Sales Representative for Wal-Mart in the electronics department and was also an ordained minister. Reese was an avid Cubs fan, and also enjoyed watching movies and listening to music. He married Jutta Beade Fillmann Delano on September 17, 2009.

Reese is survived by his wife, Jutta; sons, Chris Jelkes of Chicago, IL, and Allan Delano, Jr. of Mattoon, IL; daughters, April Benslay (Jedediah) of Bethany, IL, Andrea Phalm (Tony) of Champaign, IL; brothers, Tremont Jones of Chicago, IL and Milton Jones of Chicago, IL; sisters, Barbara Lea of Chicago, IL, and Iona Satterfield of Chicago, IL; 4 grandchildren, Jalen, Hawken, Raylan, and Florence; and special friends who helped raise Reese, Gene and Pat Harper of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith; infant son, Larry Jelkes, and brother, Elevine Jones.
