Richard Wayne Lucas, 77, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in Eastview Terrace, Sullivan, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 29, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Gary Bauerle officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the funeral home and one hour before service time on Sunday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Fellowship Baptist Church, Shelbyville, IL or The Gideons International.

Richard was born on February 21, 1938 in Petroleum, Indiana, the son of Carl Leslie and Gladys Jane Marshall Lucas. He began working for Continental Can Company in 1960 in Three Rivers, MI. Richard and his family moved from Leonidas, MI in 1974 when the company began operations in Shelbyville, IL. He remained with the company for 35 years through many mergers and transitions and was the manager of distribution at International Paper at the time of his retirement in 1995. He also drove a school bus for Shelbyville School District after his retirement for 10 years. Richard was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Shelbyville, IL where he served as a deacon. He was also formerly a member of Gideons International. Richard enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball and woodworking and was a fan of the Detroit Lions. He married Julia Ann McClish on June 26, 1957 in Mendon, MI.

Richard is survived by his wife, Julia; sons, Ben Allen Lucas of Shelbyville, IL and Richard Dean (Norma) Lucas of Goshen, IN; daughters, Bonnie Lou (Mike) Ford of Lawton, OK, Becky Ann (Erie) Patsellis of Sullivan, IL, and Vicki Mae (Faron) Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL; brothers Gerald (Doris) Lucas of Warsaw, IN, and Carl Junior Lucas of Colon, MI; sisters, Wilma (Merle) Terhune of Decatur, IN, Pearl Fisher of Bluffton, IN, Waneta Bennett of Fort Wayne, IN, and Cora Barger of Decatur, IN; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen McFarren; and one granddaughter, Brittney.
