Robert A. Howell

Robert Allen “Bob” Howell , 67, of Cowden, IL, passed away at 2:24 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 in Mound Cemetery, Cowden, IL with Kerry Campbell officiating.  Memorials may be given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Bob was born on May 31, 1954 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Kenneth and Rosemary Alice (Smith) Wakefield.  At an early age, he was adopted by his step-father, George Willard Howell.  Bob graduated from Cowden-Herrick High School in the Class of 1972.  He retired from Miller Ag in Cowden, where he was a truck driver for 12 years.  Bob previously worked for Imperial Bondware in Shelbyville for 11 years and was an over-the-road truck driver.  He was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53, Shelby County Shrine Club and Possum Lodge all in Shelbyville.  Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating on the river, cooking, horseback riding, camping, gunsmithing and above all spending time with his family.  He married Helen L. Binnion on October 2, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Kenneth Martin Howell (Jennifer) of Beecher City, IL; daughter, Lisa Dawn Wills (Joe) of Beecher City, IL; sister, Barbara Lynn Forehand of Effingham, IL; half-sister, Candice Howell of Patoka, IL; half-brothers, Lloyd Smith Howell of Colorado and Tim Lee Howell of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Remmington Martin Howell, Wesson Lee Howell, Blake Omer Faulkner and Drake Hunter Ashley; three great grandchildren; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Robert Allen Howell, Jr.
