Robert B Lape
(September 12, 1933 – September 24, 2019)
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2019 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 pm Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Moose Lodge Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society.
Bob was born on September 12, 1933 in Clarksburg, IL, the son of Ralph W. and Delia F. (Hunter) Lape. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953-1955 and later in the Army Reserves until 1961. Bob began working for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville, IL. He later worked as a truck driver for H.O. Dick Transfer in Bethany until his retirement in 2005 and then drove for Shelbyville Disposal. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1294 and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Illini Basketball. He enjoyed going to the farm, where as a family they would play baseball, shoot trap and have wiener roasts. Bob married Vivian Jean Johnson on August 17, 1957 in Danville, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Steve Lape (Cindy) of Oak Ridge, TN, and Bradley Lape (Teri) of Shelbyville; daughters, Kathy Knearem (Jim) of Shelbyville, and Susan Miller (Tom) of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, Brock, Blake (Ashlee) and Katherine Knearem, Cody (Megan), Hayden and Sydney Miller and Braxton Lape; and four great grandchildren, Breyden and Delia Knearem and Archer and Oliver Miller.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
