Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Dave Dolan officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Bob was born on October 8, 1945 in Witt, IL, the son of Lonnie Joseph and Verla Lavina (Brown) Murkin. He graduated from Pana High School in the Class of 1966. Bob began working at Rudow’s Market in Pana, IL. He later worked as a welder for S. K. Kennedy in Shelbyville, IL and retired as a press operator for GSI in Assumption, IL. In his younger days, Bob enjoyed roller skating and dancing. He later enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, researching family history and collecting antiques, stamps, coins, and plates.
He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Cloe of Shelbyville, IL, Virginia Buescher of Westervelt, IL, Bonnie Carlson of Witt, IL, Shelby Girrulat (Joe) of Pana, IL, Carolyn Sue Bendorf (Dwayne) of St. Peter, IL, Marilyn Carroll of Shelbyville, IL and Rhonda Harbaugh (Terry) of Tuscola, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Everett and Gary Murkin.
