Family graveside services will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Gary Young officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Bob was born on June 29, 1927 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the son of Arthur Hobart and Ruth Mattie Biggs Jones. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II, serving as a Sergeant in Squadron E 3505th Army Air Force Base Unit. Bob drove for Willaredt Oil Company and later worked as a serviceman for Leach-Wilson Chevrolet-Buick in Shelbyville until his retirement. He also managed the Windsor Gun Club during the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and raising German Shorthaired Pointers. He married Evelyn Marie Wilson on May 11, 1948 in Shawneetown, IL. She died on November 27, 2008.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Alison Hubner and husband Roscoe of Shelbyville, IL; great grandchildren, Dylan and Paige Hubner of Shelbyville, IL; several nieces and nephews, including Carol Jent and husband Lonnie of Sullivan, IL; several great nieces and nephews, including Doug Jent and wife Wendy of Tuscola, IL; many special friends including, Gary Young, Esther Eigsti and Frank and Joyce Kasper; and his beloved dog, Prissy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; son, Michael Robert Jones on February 26, 2009; one brother; and one sister.
