Robert G Cooper

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Greg Breeden and Rev. Bob Turner officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
Mr. Cooper was born on May 19, 1939 in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Estie Mae McClusky. He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School and served in the United States Air Force. Bob owned and operated an auto body repair business in Springfield and later Shelbyville. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. He married Eileen Tull Durbin on November 5, 1988.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen; children, Cindy Michaud and husband Jerry of Austin, TX, Chris Bennett of Springfield, and Steve Cooper of Springfield; step-children, Terry Durbin and wife Laurie of Dallas, TX and Larry Durbin and wife Ginger of Shelbyville; sister, Beverly Bounds and husband Ray of Springfield; grandchildren, Lindsay Burgess and husband Matt, Emily Michaud, Brittany Cooper, Caysey Bennett, Stephanie Cooper, and Steven Michaud; step-grandchildren, Blake, Amanda, Matthew, Jackson, and Ryan Durbin; and special friends, Retha and Roger.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
