Robert L Graven

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard or V.F.W. Post #4829 of Shelbyville, IL.
Robert was born on June 29, 1941 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Ray Charles and Ethel Oka (Jennings) Graven. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1959 and served in the U. S. Army. Robert was a tire builder for Firestone Tire and Rubber in Decatur, IL until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and V.F.W. Post #4829 all in Shelbyville, IL and served on the Shelby County Honor Guard. He married Nadine McKittrick on December 23, 1961. She died on January 23, 2011.
He is survived by his daughters, Dorenda Lasswell and husband Joel of Tuscola, IL and Keri Graven of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Jim Graven of Shelbyville, IL and Eugene Graven and wife Mary Ann of Clarksville, TN; sisters, Louise Heathcock of Shelbyville, IL and Elizabeth Mueller of Joliet, IL; four grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kaleigh Smith and William and Patricia Lasswell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nadine; brothers, Charles and Don Graven; and sister, Eileen Woods.
