Robert Oliver Marquiss, 84, of Shelbyville, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Family and friends are invited to stop by and visit with Wilma at her residence. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, his body has been donated to science. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of cards and flowers, memorials may be given to the Peace Meal Gift Account, c/o Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Mr. Marquiss was born on April 4, 1928 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of James Garfield and Cora Elizabeth Bragg Marquiss. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of WW II. He began working as an accountant for Borg Warner in Decatur, IL. He then built homes in the Decatur area and later owned and operated Marquiss Electric. Bob was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville and delivered Peace Meals in Shelby County for over ten years. He married Wilma Irene Wood. They celebrated 65 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; son, Robert Eugene Marquiss and wife Shirley of Vienna, IL; daughters, Brenda McHenry of Shelbyville, IL and Gwenda Boys and husband Don of Shelbyville, IL; son-in-law, Jim Stivers of Findlay, IL; sisters, Marion Marquiss and Doris Giberson both of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Amy Rhoads, Kimberly Adamson, Ashley Nicolette, Clayton Stivers, Jason Stivers, Aaron Marquiss, Ruth Ann Marquiss and Hannah Marquiss; great grandchildren, Derek Hinton, Briare Hinton, Chance Hinton, Caroline Adamson, Oliver Adamson, Ella Stivers, Mia Stivers and Cole Stivers; and step-great grandchildren, Austin Rhoads, Haley Rhoads, Cyndy Johnson and Bobby Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sonja Stivers; grandson, Jeremy Cutler; brothers, Jim and Lyle Marquiss; and sisters, Helen and Virginia Marquiss and Lois Finstrum.
