Robert R Doty

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville with Father John Sohm officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL with military rites. Memorials may be given to DMH Hospice or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville.
Mr. Doty was born on January 16, 1932 in Decatur, IL, the son of Raymond R. and Opal E. Dittamore Doty. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, receiving two Purple Hearts. He worked at PPG Industries in Mt. Zion for 27 years until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Shelbyville, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of Effingham and Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 of Findlay for 30 years. He married Virginia L. Parrish on June 5, 1954.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; son, Rick E. Doty and wife Jodi of Clinton; daughter, Terri S. Braden and husband Ron of Maroa; brother, Raymond T. Doty of Tyler, TX; sister, Norma J. Smith and husband James of Decatur; six grandchildren, Christy Hicks, Dusty Kaspirowicz and husband Mark, Rhonda Braden, Patrick Doty, Jenny Steen and Ashley Doty; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Phillip Stringer.
We wish to thank Decatur Cancer Care Specialists and Nurses, Dr. Guaglianone and DMH Hospice for all their care. We also wish to thank Father John Sohm, Deacon John O’Brien and all that prayed for Bob.
