Roger J Brooks
(August 21, 1944 – February 21, 2015)
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the First Christian Church of Findlay with Rev. Richard Hargrave officiating. Visitation will be from noon – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Findlay, IL.
Roger was born on August 21, 1944 in Mattoon, IL the son of Oliver and Margie Cruitt Brooks. He was a welder for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel Company and All Tri-R, Inc. both in Decatur, IL. Roger retired in 1988 and enjoyed several years of retirement. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and woodworking and was always the first to help others. Roger was a member of the First Christian Church of Findlay and the Findlay American Legion Clarence Bixler Post 409. He married Ruth Ann Barrett on August 21, 1965. She died on April 11, 2000.
He is survived by his son, Jeff (Char) Brooks of Moweaqua, IL; daughter, Lori Brooks of Springfield, IL; granddaughter, Kayla Brooks; grandson, Lane Brooks; brothers, Jack (Pat) Brooks of Findlay, IL and Dave (Pat) Brooks of Findlay, IL; sister, Judy Francisco of Findlay, IL; longtime girlfriend, Carolyn Alderson of Findlay, IL; several nieces and nephews; and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Ann Brooks; and brother, Bob Brooks.
