, beloved son and brother passed away on January 27, 2021.
A graveside service with military rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Glenwood Cemetery (Blyman Addition), Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
He was born on September 23, 1957 to Bennie Joe and Jacquelyn Ruth (Case) Thompson in Los Angeles County, California. He graduated from San Gabriel High in San Gabriel, California, and got his Bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State with a music major and math minor. He had a beautiful voice, and entertained his family and others on many occasions. Ron loved the sea and spent five years in the United States Navy, taking part in the first Gulf War on the aircraft carrier Ranger. He also served on the Cal Vinson aircraft carrier. The past twenty years he was employed as an accountant with the Sacramento County School Board.
He is survived by his father Joe of Shelbyville, Illinois, brother Steve of Elizabeth, Colorado, sister Tonja of Petaluma, California, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Jacque.
