Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg with Mike Giertz officiating. Visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg. Memorials may be given to the Strasburg Fire Department or Donor’s Choice.
Mr. Apke was born on July 21, 1947 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Norbert J. and Pauline J. Rieman Apke. He was the owner and operator of Apke Cabinets in Strasburg for 26 years. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Strasburg Fire Department. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His interests include garden tractor pulling, lawn care and gardening. He married Debra Robison on February 24, 1973.
Surviving are his wife, Debra; children, Shelia Beck and husband Jeff of Altamont, Paula Burke and husband Tony of Effingham, Ronald M. Apke and wife Amy of Montrose, Tammy Winters and husband Mark of Augusta, and Todd Apke and wife Ashley of Stewardson; brothers, Paul Apke and wife Barb of Neoga and Gary Apke and wife Lori of Effingham; sisters, Carolyn Lamb of Teutopolis, Mary Doedtman and husband Gary of Teutopolis and Pauline Burgener and husband Bill of Dundas; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Apke; and grandson, Anthony Burke, Jr.
