Ronald L Chaney

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Rich Ratts officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Flight.
Ron was born on June 21, 1943 in Decatur, IL, the son of William Lester “Buss” and Minnie Pauline (Ratts) Chaney. He graduated from Lakeview High School in Decatur, IL and attended Illinois State University in Normal, IL. Ron was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for the Mueller Company in Decatur, IL until his retirement. Ron was a member of the Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and V.F.W. Post #4829 both of Shelbyville, IL and a founding member of the Assumption Bass Club of Assumption, IL. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking. Ron married Doris “LaVonne” Jones on August 15, 1969.
He is survived by his wife LaVonne; son, Ron Chaney and wife Kristin of Aurora, CO; daughter, Lisa Winters of Monticello, IL; sisters, Shirley Hart and husband Don of Mt. Zion, IL and Nancy Lotzgesell and husband Mike of Decatur, IL; and two grandsons, Justin and Drew Chaney.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
