Ronald Leon Hammond, 69, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 12:10 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Casual attire is requested. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

Ronnie was born on July 4, 1950 in Little Rock, AR, the son of Leonard and Lura Collins Hammond. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1968. Ronnie was an ironworker for All Tri-R, R & R and Alert all at ADM in Decatur, IL. He also owned and operated a lawn care business in Shelbyville, IL. Ronnie was a member of the Straight Shooters Motorcycle Club of Pana, IL and Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81, where he was a cook for many years.

He is survived by his four sons, Heath Spracklen (Stacy) of Pana, IL, and Jason Spracklen of Pana, IL, Craig Johns (Lila) of Shelbyville, IL, and Cody Hammond (Cortney) of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Brandy Land of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Amber, Nick, Drake and Ryker Spracklen, Owen Spracklen all of Pana, IL, Alexis and Addison Johns both of Shelbyville, IL, Dylan Fitzgerald (Sonya) of Joliet, IL and Emily Land of Shelbyville, IL; great grandchildren, Reagan Spracklen and Jackson Bennett both of Pana, IL; brothers, Mike Hammond (Lee) of Georgetown, TX, Bob Hammond (Karen) of Decatur, IL, and Tom Hammond (Debbie) of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, LaVonne West of Decatur, IL, Wanda Suey of Nashville, TN, Linda McConnell (Jerry) of Neoga, IL and Lois Blickem (Vance) of Oregon; sister-in-law, Diana Hammond of Shelbyville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Hammond, Dennis Hammond, Edward Hammond and Jim Hammond; brother-in-law, Eddie Suey; and nephew, Warren Blickem.
