Ronald James Pollard, 82, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:32 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 in Oak Grove Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Jeff Yandell officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL.

Ron was born on March 24, 1938 in Mt. Auburn, IL, the son of Theodore Roscoe and Callie June (Morgan) Pollard. He graduated from Mt. Auburn High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked at Caterpillar in Decatur for 32 years, retiring in 1989. After his retirement, he served as the club manager for VFW Post #4829 in Shelbyville, for 25 years. He was a member of VFW Post #4829, Shelby County Honor Guard and the Moose Lodge all in Shelbyville, IL. Ron loved his horses, his two puppies Zoey and Tiny, his antique cars and spending winters in Texas. He married Judy Ann (Miller) Stephens on January 20, 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Chris Walker (Rick) of Shelbyville, IL, R. J. Pollard, Jr. (Nora) of Mt. Auburn, IL, LaDonna Yandell (Jeff) of Muskegon, MI, Stephanie Wheeler of New Meadows, ID, Roger Stephens of Shelbyville, IL, and Ron Stephens (Camie) of Olney, IL; daughter-in-law, Marlow Stephens of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Donna Requarth (Charlie) of Edinburg, IL; sister-in-law, Joanne Pollard of Mt. Auburn, IL; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Stephens; and brother, Ted Pollard.
