Ronald Roy “Clem” Stephens

Ronald Roy “Clem” Stephens , 81, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Shelbyville Manor.

A visitation will be held on August 30, 2024, from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  A celebration of Clem’s life will follow at VFW Post #4829 in Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Peace Meal Program.

Clem was born on May 3, 1943, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Ralph Romelia Stephens, Sr. and Bonnie Marie (West) Stephens.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1961.  Clem worked for the City of Shelbyville until his retirement.  He enjoyed hunting, taxidermy, collecting arrowheads, flintknapping, and living on the river. He married Patricia Rosine Smith on July 20, 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters, Chris Walker (Rick) of Shelbyville, IL, LaDonna Yandell (Jeff) of  Muskegon, MI, Hillary Haney of Springfield, IL and Cindy Wiback of Shelbyville, IL; son, Roger Stephens of Shelbyville, IL,  Ronnie Stephens (Cami) of Olney, IL, Andy Stephens of Effingham, IL and Robert Smith of Shelbyville, IL; daughter-in-law, Marlow Stephens (Charlie) of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Darrell Stephens (Vicki) of Shelbyville, IL; 25 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Tank.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Penny Roney Stephens; son, Rodney Stephens; and brothers, Larry Joe Stephens and Ralph Romelia “Junior” Stephens.
