Ross A Freier, Sr.
(October 06, 1943 – October 16, 2016)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home with Rev. Rena Whitcher officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville IL with flag presentation by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Ross was born on October 6, 1943 in Peru, IL the son of Harry E. and Dorothea L. (Buck) Freier. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Ross was a cable splicer for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company, retiring in 2005. He was also a bus driver for Shelbyville Community Unit School District #4. Ross was a member of Stonington American Legion Post #257, a former member of the Stonington Volunteer Fire Department and a former leader of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Stonington, IL. He loved Mustangs and was an avid collector of Santa Fe trains. Ross enjoyed spending time with this family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Ross Freier, Jr. (Stephanie) of Riverbank, CA; and Scot Freier of St. Louis, MO; daughters, Alison Roberts (Chad) of Shelbyville, IL and Tiffany Freier (Brock) of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Mike Freier (Connie) of Georgia; sister, Pam Henschen (Laine) of Minooka, IL; ten grandchildren, Mahalia, Chloe, Brennan, Jacob, Patience, Bastian, Alexander, Brailie, Alaina, and Bentley; and his good friend, Jean Stazewski of Shelbyville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Freier; and sister, Alicia Davis.
