Roy Eugene Eigsti, 81, of Shelbyville, IL, was surrounded by his family when he passed away at 8:03 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Lonnie Stewart officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shriner’s Hospitals for Crippled Children. Send condolences at www.howeandyockey.com

Roy was born on March 8, 1933 in Shelby County, IL, the son of Joseph and Carrie Lena Hostetler Eigsti. He attended South Liberty School near Shelbyville. He married Thelma Rose “Rosie” Agney on January 27, 1960. Roy worked for the Dowler Implement Company, Smithson Implement Company and later owned and operated a tractor repair shop from his home. He and Rosie ran the Interstate Café in Shelbyville for many years. Roy served as the Shelbyville Township Road Commissioner for 12 years and worked in the maintenance department of Shelbyville Community Unit School District #4 until his retirement. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Amish Mennonite Church, near Shelbyville, Shelby County Farm Bureau and the East Central Illinois Highway Commissioners Association. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, pitching horseshoes, tractor pulls, cooking smoked meat, and taking his family on vacation to Sikeston, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie; children, Rhonda Kay Doemelt of Windsor, IL, Ryan Kent Eigsti of Shelbyville, IL, Rose Yvonne Miller and husband Mark of Neponset, IL and Renee Lynn Rentfro and husband Chris of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Ruth Mae Stewart and husband Lafe and Esther June Eigsti all of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law, Marilyn Eigsti of Manson, IA; grandchildren, Kris Reed and wife Jessie, Liberty Doemelt, Zach Doemelt, Kanen Reed and wife Shiloh, Hailey Uphoff and husband Elliott, Lindsey Eigsti, Josie Dial, Kayla Rentfro, Lena Miller and Mary Ellen Miller; great grandchildren, Devin Edwards, Delaney Prosser, Tess Reed and Hemi Reed; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Revis Dean Eigsti; brother, Leo Joseph Eigsti; sisters, Edna Ethel Eigsti, Mary Ellen Eigsti and Fern Elizabeth Toll and husband Joe; and special cousin, Emma Hostetler.
