Ruth was born on February 29, 1920 in Shelby County, Illinois, the daughter of Roy Edward and Tenna Anna Holmes Syfert. She married Charles Mason Reed on May 30, 1942. Ruth was a homemaker and babysitter in early years. She loved to bake and cook. She was well-known for her pies, noodles, and sugar cookies (which were cut out and decorated). Her cinnamon rolls and twists were delicious, along with her homemade doughnuts, which we made when we all got together. Ruth loved spending time with family and friends.
