Ruth Manola
(April 26, 1918 – May 21, 2009)
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois. Final resting place will be alongside of her husband, Joseph Manola. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Ruth’s favorite charity, The Salvation Army.
Ruth was born on April 26, 1918 in Trout Creek, Michigan, the youngest of twelve children of Monroe and Maude Catterson. Ruth was a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, spending 32 years at Bethany Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and in private practice. Ruth was a member of the Poets and Peasants Society of Chicago, receiving Poet’s Awards from W. Clement Stone, Owner and President of the Combined Insurance Company of America.
Surviving are her sons, Bruce N. Manola and wife Lorraine of Shelbyville and Paul J. Manola and wife Carol of Dana Pont, California; grandchildren, Gina E. Manola, Michael Manola and Glen Manola; and one great grandson, Townes Durbin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; and all eleven siblings.
