Wylma “Ruth” Yantis, 79, of Shelbyville, died at 7:22 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Quad County Hospice.

Mrs. Yantis was born on March 14, 1929 in Forsythe, IL, the daughter of Charles and Wilma Fike Lewis. She graduated from Oreana High School. Ruth began working as a telephone operator in Decatur, IL. She married Noel W. Yantis on January 1, 1948. She was a farmer’s housewife and worked part time a Mode-A-Day and Amerilla’s Dress Shop in Shelbyville. Ruth later worked at D’s Diner/Resale Shop in Shelbyville. She and her husband owned and operated Noel and Ruth’s Treasures in Shelbyville. She was a member of the Findlay United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Noel; daughters, Twyla Helms and husband Dan of Pawnee and Marie Kopp of Shelbyville; brother, Roger Lewis of Forsythe; sister, Eleanor Heinz of Maroa, IL; grandchildren, Laura Kopp and Joshua Kopp and wife Tiara all of Arnold, MO, Alicia Israel and husband Jason of Pensacola, Florida and Melissa Johnson of Carterville, IL; step-granddaughter, Samantha Baker and husband Adam of Tuscola, IL; great grandson, Tristen Kopp of Arnold, MO; and one great granddaughter on the way of Pensacola, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ted and David Lewis.
