Sarah Ruth Morse , 96, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 10:21 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Private family graveside services will be held in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL with Rev. Nathan Woolery officiating. Memorials may be made payable to “Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania,” noting “in memory of Thomas Morse”, and sent to the Brain Tumor Lab Support Fund, Penn Medicine Development, Attn: Sheryl Garton 3535 Market St., Ste 750 Philadelphia, PA, 19104.  Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Sarah was born on June 11, 1927 in Bethany, IL, the daughter of Charles Delbert and Elizabeth “Lyda” (Baum) LaCost. She graduated from Bethany High School in the Class of 1945. Sarah married Richard Henry Morse on June 16, 1945.  She enjoyed working on the farm with her husband and being a devoted mother to her four children, Rebecca, Pamela, Thomas and Tim.  She was a member of First Christian Church in Findlay, and a former member of The Red Hat Society and Order of Eastern Star in Findlay and Shelbyville. Sarah enjoyed working word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles and collecting oil lamps and Russian stacking dolls.

Sarah is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Decker (Dan) of Weston, CT, and Pamela Lulman of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; son, Tim Morse (Lori) of Shelbyville, IL; daughter-in-law, Jan Morse of Chester Springs, PA;  eight grandchildren, Bryan Decker, Lori Decker (Jeff MacLean), Sarah Lulman (Dave Hircock), Nikolas Morse, Henry Morse, Elizabeth Blickhan (Seth), Ellen Morse, and Casey Morse; seven great grandchildren, Jack and Brady Decker, Ellie and Anna MacLean, Dominik Morse, and Astair and Inez Blickhan; and brother-in-law, Dennis Morse (Shirlie) of Versailles, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Morse on March 7, 2022; son, Thomas Morse on January 13, 2024; son-in-law, Phil Lulman; five brothers, Dale LaCost, Charles LaCost, Bill LaCost, John LaCost, and Ray LaCost; and six sisters, Patsy Lilpop, Betty Johnson, Mary Johnson, Eileen Lupica, Loretta LaBounty, and Dorothy Hatton.
