Scott Ulmer, 58, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 7:03 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 in his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard.

Scott was born on February 1, 1961 in Effingham, IL, the son of Delbert and Roberta (Bly) Ulmer. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1980. Scott then entered the U.S. Navy, where he served for 23 years. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and the Gulf War and retired with the rank of E6. Following his retirement, Scott worked for Caterpillar in Decatur, IL for 7 years. Scott enjoyed mowing, fixing things and watching Walker Texas Ranger and NASCAR. He married Myra Jane Reynolds on February 2, 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Myra; sons, Gregory Reynolds of Shelbyville, IL, Michael (Rachel) Reynolds of Tucson, AZ and Devin Ulmer of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Amanda (David) Hale of Ladson, SC and Lacey (Garrett) Seaton of Taylorville, IL; father, Delbert (Carol) Ulmer of Shelbyville, IL; mother, Roberta Workman of Effingham, IL; brothers, Mike (Carol) Ulmer of Shelbyville, IL and Brad Ulmer of Shelbyville, IL; step-brother, Mike Kirk of Sullivan, IL; step-sisters, Cheryl Williams of Texas and Susan Durbin of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Janet Rentfro of Mode, IL; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Haylee, Kaylee and Riley Reynolds, Dawson Hale, Rocco Reynolds, and Madalyn, Kinsley and Adler Seaton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Eva Ulmer; maternal grandparents Clyde and June Bly; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Olive Reynolds; brother-in-law, Gordon Reynolds; and sister-in-law, Debra Fitzgerald.
