Sharon Charlene Grieco , 83, of Effingham, formerly of Stras burg , passed away at 5:35 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Willowbrook in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the church.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.  Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL.

Sharon was born on March 7, 1938 in Strasburg, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Wilma Hobson Engel.  She graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1956.  Sharon served in the U. S. Navy and met her husband Domenic, who was serving in the Marines.  They were married in Philadelphia, PA on August 19, 1960.  She worked at Walmart in Effingham for 15 years and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL.

She is survived by her daughters, Christina (Roger) Shick and Becky (Ken) Brown all of Effingham, IL: son, Nick (Sharon) Grieco of Stewardson, IL: sisters, Phyllis Rhodes and Shirley Lawson both of Winchester, IL; brother, Jim “Butch” Engel of Salem, IL; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Domenic on May 15, 2000; brother, Gehrig Engel; and infant sister, Barbara Engel.
