Sharon Nees

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Casual attire is requested. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Sharon was born on March 9, 1942 in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Lee and Mary (Coughlin) Chaney. She graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1960. Sharon worked at Shelby Memorial Hospital in the Housekeeping Department for over 24 years. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1325 in Shelbyville, IL. She married Ralph Jacob “Butch” Nees on December 17, 1960. He died on August 14, 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine L. “Rene” Fulford (Steve) of Shelbyville, IL; sons, Tim L. Nees (Brenda) of Toledo, IL and Rodney J. Nees (Margaret) of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Carol Jean Wagner (Butch) of Findlay, IL and Susie Long (Chuck) of Taylorville, IL; sisters-in-law, Jackie Chaney of Shelbyville, IL and Sue Hankins of Shelbyville, IL; brother-in-law, David Nees (Birgit) of Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Kyle Strohl (Nikki) of Olney, IL, Christopher Nees (Janet) of Shelbyville, IL, Brittany Strohl of Shelbyville, IL, Dustin Nees (Laura) of Niantic, IL, Ralph “Jake” Nees of Rochester, IL, D.J. Nees (fiancée Kaytlin Mott) of Shelbyville, IL, Michael Nees of Shelbyville, IL and Lee Nees of Toledo, IL; step-grandson, Matt Karol (Jessica) of Weatherford, TX; great grandchildren, Ky Strohl, Allen Nees, Annabelle Nees, Alexi Nees and Wyatt Nees; step-great grandchildren, Corbin Karol and Kason Padgett; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Butch Nees; sister, Shirley Donald; brother, Larry Chaney; aunts; and uncles.
