Shirley Elaine Furr , 88, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 1:38 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 10, 2023 in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Gary Crowder officiating. Visitation will be from noon – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville or the Alzheimer’s Association

Shirley was born on December 21, 1934 in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Clarence L. and Fern (Downs) Dagen. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1953. Shirley married Clark M. Furr on March 15, 1957, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2008. Shirley was a farm wife and previously worked for Dillow’s Drugstore in Shelbyville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Terry Furr and wife Pam of Shelbyville, IL, and Mike Furr and wife Debbie of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Tammy Ward and husband Greg of Findlay, IL; sisters, Donna Ashinhurst (Sam) of Sullivan, IL, and Karen Rhodes of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Millie Dagen of Herrick, IL; eight grandchildren, Courtney Rowcliffe (Jared), Matt Furr (Abby), Luke Furr (Deidra), Blake Furr (Whitney), Kelsey Turner (Ethan), Elizabeth Geier (Brandon), Jessica Shaw (Danny), and Sarah; and six great grandchildren, Cash, Laney, Emmie, Riley, Tate, and Peyton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Lucy Lewis Dagen; husband, Clark Furr; brother, Larry Dagen; and brother-in-law, Gary Rhodes.
