Shirley Ann Eversole, 86, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 9: 57 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2021 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Derrick Ritchie officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – noon Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Section B. Memorials may be given to the Tower Hill Christian Church, Tower Hill, IL.

Shirley was born on February 19, 1935, in Wachapreague, a small town on the eastern shore of Virginia, the daughter of John and Alice (Swartz) Turlington. She then lived in Baltimore, MD, as a teenager.  Shirley was a talented country gospel singer and had her own show in Hampton, VA.  She later moved to Nashville, TN, when she was invited to sing with Marty Robbins. Shirley also worked as a long distance operator for Bell Telephone Company in Nashville for many years.  She married Donald L. Eversole on May 9, 1987. They lived in Norwood, Halfway and Lebanon, MO before moving to Shelbyville in 2013.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Don; and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four children, Leonard Fluhart, John Marshall, James Marshall, and Darlene Toal; brother, John Turlington; and sister, Marie Cropper.
