Shirley L Sutherland

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Shirley was born on August 16, 1935 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Robert and Blenna (Alexander) Klasing. She graduated from Cumberland High School in the Class of 1953. Shirley was an estimator for Petty Printing in Effingham until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, IL. Shirley married M. LaDoit “Doit” Sutherland on July 6, 1953 in Corinth, MS. He died on June 7, 2011.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Jessica Sutherland Handel of Elizabeth, IL; grandson, Dillon Sutherland (Kirsten) of Philo, IL; great grandchildren, Collin and Claire Handel of Elizabeth, IL and Maddix, Cashtyn, Jolene and Rhys Sutherland all of Philo, IL; and brother, Jack Klasing (Louise) of Aledo, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doit; sons, Richard “Rick” Sutherland in 2009 and Douglas “Doug” Sutherland in 2008; granddaughter, Miranda Sutherland in 2003; one brother; and one sister.
