(March 22, 1925 – February 05, 2014)

Stanley Butcher, 88, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Windsor, IL, died at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Stanley requested a graveside service. Due to the cold weather, the graveside service will be held in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 with Rev. Gary Fortkamp officiating. A private burial will follow in Ash Grove Cemetery, near Windsor, IL. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.

Stanley was born on March 22, 1925 in Goodland, KS, the son of James Ogle and Olive Laura Little Butcher. He was a welder for Young’s Radiator in Mattoon, IL for 33 years. Stanley enjoyed reading, walking and later in life learned to use a computer. He married Donna Rose Kull in 1948. She died in 1992.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Butcher of Sammamish, WA; sister-in-law, Betty Noffke of Stewardson, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; brothers, Raymond and James Butcher; and sister, Marjorie Miller.
