R. Stanley McDonald, 90, of Lakewood, Illinois, passed away at 7:03 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 in his residence, within ¼ mile of his birthplace.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 in the Lakewood United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Lewis and Pastor Don “Satch” Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Lakewood United Methodist Church or Quad County Hospice.

Stanley was born on August 31, 1927 in rural Lakewood, IL, the son of Homer Morris and Elsie Pearl Munson McDonald. He graduated from Lakewood High School in the Class of 1944 and from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1945. Stanley was a retired farmer and stockman. He was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church and the Shelby County Farm Bureau. Stanley married Phyllis Smith on July 27, 1947 and she died on April 8, 2007.

He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn J. Donahoo of Shelbyville, IL and R. Lois Walker (Dale) of Windsor, IL; sons, Robert Glen “Bob” McDonald (special friend Kathy Brooks, who showed much kindness to Stanley) of Lakewood, IL and James Homer McDonald (Dawn) of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Nelda Koontz of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Emily Perry (Corey), Stanley Donahoo, Brett Walker (Erica), Marlene Perkins (Jon), Suzanne Walker and Audrey McDonald; three step-grandchildren, Zane Rupe of Shelbyville, IL, Zebulon Rupe of Redkey, IN and Zeth Rupe of Shelbyville, IL; four great grandchildren, Caden and Corbin Perry, Tallulah Walker and Jordan Perkins; and one step-great grandchild, Mackenzie Perry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son-in-law, Dale Donahoo; five brothers, Ervil, Wayne, Paul, C.E. “Elwin” and in infancy, Ronald; and one infant sister, Lucille..
