Stanley Wayne Reynolds, 79, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 4:55 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Linda Trent officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.

Stan was born on May 15, 1937 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Chester Ray, Sr. and Flora Ann May (Allen) Reynolds. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1955. A veteran of the Korean War era, Stan joined the U. S. Air Force immediately following his graduation, serving in Okinawa in the intelligence unit of the 15th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, specializing in mapmaking from reconnaissance photographs. From 1959, he worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) in Mt. Zion until his retirement in 1999, where he helped negotiate a contract for workers across the company in his role as National Union Steward. Stan attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, near Shelbyville, IL. He served in the Shelby County Honor Guard for many years, was an active member at the Shelbyville Senior Center, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He married the mother of his children Janet Storm on May 6, 1962. He later married Helen Ann (Martz) Gould on August 8, 1992. Helen died on June 1, 2001.

He is survived by his children Melanie Watson and husband Joe of Shelbyville, IL, Tracy Gentry and husband Marty of Charleston, IL, and Barry Reynolds and wife Amy (Preumer) of Cincinnati, OH; brothers Chester Reynolds, Jr. of Cowden, IL, and Gene Reynolds of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Ruby Houk of Springfield, IL and Hazel Rankin and husband Pete of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren Jeff Watson (Christle), Marissa Hankins (Jake), Brittni Hankins (Justin), Heather Henderson (Miles), Danielle Reynolds, and Alex Reynolds; great grandchildren Daniel Watson, Brooklyn Watson, Bristin Hankins, Beau Hankins, and Lilly Hankins; and special friend Wilma Stremming of Shelbyville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Reynolds; sisters Clara Hopkins and Susie Reynolds; infant twin siblings John Reynolds and Carrie Reynolds; brothers-in-law Pete Houk and Kenny Hopkins; and great granddaughter Keira Donn Watson.

A warm, caring, funny, hardworking, happy, generous, faith-filled man, Stan was truly loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered as a special dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, and friend. With hope in the resurrection, Stan will be dearly missed until we see him again.
