Stella M Kay
(December 13, 1926 – July 15, 2008)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, Illinois with Rev. Robert Turner officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick, Illinois. Memorials in her name may be given in care of Prairie National Bank in Stewardson, Illinois.
Mrs. Kay was born on December 13, 1926 in Osbernville, Illinois, the daughter of Merville Harrison and Cora Jane Bailey Randall. Stella worked at Root’s Café in Assumption, Lake Towers in Shelbyville and was a cook at Dodge City High School in Kansas. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. She married Russell Kay on January 20, 1945. He died on March 12, 1990.
Surviving are her son, Harold E. Kay of Dodge City, Kansas; daughters, Evelyn M. McMahon of Cullom, June E. Linder of Stewardson and Beverly A. Close of Effingham; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; son, Steven Dale Kay on December 27, 1982; daughter, Linda Louise Kay on February 9, 1951; and son-in-law, Robert Close. She was the last survivor of all of her brothers and sisters.
