Stephen C. “Mouse” Brown, 54, of Shelbyville, died at 6:08 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church or First Church of the Nazarene both in Shelbyville.

Steve was born on July 29, 1956 in Shelbyville, the son of Richard E. and Grace June Marshall Brown. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1975. Steve worked for Shelby Memorial Hospital from 1973-1995 and Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital from 1995-2003 where they started a Nursing Scholarship in memory of his parents. He was baptized on March 9, 1975 in the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, where he was a member and served as Chairman of the Deacons from January 2008-February 2009. Steve was a member of the Jaycees in Shelbyville from 1977-1991 and was bestowed Ambassadorship on April 21, 1985. He served as President of the Shelbyville Jaycees and was honored with twelve Jaycee of the Month Awards, two Presidential Awards, two Team Awards: “Go For Award” and “Ata Boy Award” and was a former President of the Camp New Hope Jaycees. There are several plaques hanging with Steve’s name on them, including Jaycees National Headquarters in Tulsa, OK for Ambassadorship, Shriners Children’s Hospital in St. Louis for Jaycees, Shelby Memorial Hospital in honor of Steve and in memory of his parents and two at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital.

Steve is survived by several cousins; one uncle; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
