Sue Roessler
(December 30, 1942 – June 13, 2017)
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
Sue was born on December 30, 1942 in Morrisonville, IL, the daughter of Lawrence Ambrose and Lenora (Lovens) Boarman. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1961 and attended Sparks Business College in Shelbyville. Sue was the first female to carry mail for the Shelbyville Post Office and then worked there as a clerk until her retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Shelbyville, IL. Sue enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling.
She is survived by her children, Janet Nelson and husband Donald of Toledo, IL, Rick Roessler and wife Judy of Decatur, IL, Connie Smith and husband Scott of Shelbyville, IL and John Roessler and wife Laura of Columbia, IL; brother, Bob Boarman and wife Pam of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Donna Norris and husband Gene of Ballwin, MO, Evelyn Norris and husband George of Taylorville, IL and Betty Fulford and husband Carl of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Marcella Boarman of Tower Hill, IL; several grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and was lovingly known as “Granny Sue” by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Gaddis and husband Lyle; and brothers, Ed Boarman and wife Maggie and Joe Boarman.
