Terry Lee Hamilton, 60, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Shelbyville and Springfield, died Thursday, July 16, 2009.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Gary Crowder officiating. Visitation from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church or the General Dacey Trail both in Shelbyville.

Terry was born on February 7, 1949 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Otis Franklin and Doris Johnston Hamilton. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1967. Terry attended SIU until he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a computer operator for Illinois Bell in Springfield, IL and later a floral designer for Harvest Designs in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, VFW Post # 755 of Riverton, IL and the Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, MO. Terry was a volunteer for Mid-American Horse Rescue. He enjoyed travel, gardening, his family and his dachshunds.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Doris and William Thompson of Shelbyville; partner for 26 years, Michael Bowling of St. Louis, MO; sister, Janet Russell and husband Chris of Shelbyville; brother, Brett Hamilton and wife Darla of Jacksonville, IL; step-brother, Darrell Thompson and wife Linda of Pana, IL; step-sister, Marla Fry of Bethalto, IL; nieces and nephews, Michael Russell, Nathan Russell, Nicholas Hamilton, Clark Hamilton and Paige Hamilton; and friend, Margo Sutter of St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his father, Otis Hamilton.
