Theodore A Alwardt
(April 22, 1919 – April 16, 2012)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Michael Mohr and Rev. Troy Countryman officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services on Friday both in the church. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to The Lutheran Hour or Donor’s Choice.
Mr. Alwardt was born on April 22, 1919 in Altamont, IL, the son of Henry and Augusta Zempter Alwardt, Sr. He was a retired farmer. Theodore was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mattoon, IL and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL. He married Emma W. Dahnke on June 2, 1940. She died on October 10, 1999.
He is survived by his sons, Paul (Christine) Alwardt of Germantown, TN, Fredric (Martha) Alwardt of Paris, IL, David (Diane) Alwardt of Florissant, MO, Arlen (Beverly) Alwardt of Milford, IL and Steven (Teresa) Alwardt of Walshville, IL; daughters, Jeanette (John) Benner of Greenville, IL and Marvelle (Dean) Cole of Arcola, IL; sister, Clara Alwardt Wolf of Effingham, IL; 19 grandchildren; and 39 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma; one granddaughter; and eleven brothers and sisters.
