Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville, IL with Father Marianna Sathuluri as Celebrant assisted by Deacon John O’Brien. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday in the church. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
Tom was born on October 27, 1940 in Evanston, IL, the son of Irwin and Josephine Grochocinski Peters. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Tom was a retired Aircraft Mechanic for United Airlines, where he was known as “Hot Dog Tom”. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Shelbyville, IL, American Legion Post #1231 of Lake in the Hills, IL, and Algonquin Jaycees. He married MaryAnn Kalivoda on April 3, 1965.
He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; sons, Thomas J. Peters of St. Louis, MO, Gary L. Peters (Cathy) of Lake Zurich, IL, Daniel J. Peters (Crystal) of Uintah, Utah, and John A. Peters (Kate) of Bartlett, IL; brother, Robert Peters (Lynn) of Chicago, IL; and 11 grandchildren, Tucker, Jacob, William, Abbey, Grace, Cooper, Brenna, Madysun, Zoe, Dominic and Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ronald Peters; and one sister, Barbara Fecteau.
