Thomas G. Banning, 85, of Decatur, formerly of Shelbyville, died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006 in Decatur Manor Care.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Rev. Lynette DeAtley officiating. Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Banning was born on August 24, 1920 in Mode, Illinois, the son of Cloyd and Maude Courtright Banning. He worked for the C.E. & I Railroad in Shelbyville and later J.L. Simmons Construction in Decatur until his retirement. He was a member of the Central Laborers Union of Jacksonville, Illinois. He married M. June King on August 14, 1943.

Surviving are his wife, June; daughter, Kay Henne of Shelbyville; grandsons, Greg Getz of Orlando, Florida and Brad Getz of Shelbyville; and great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Macallister and Madysen Getz all of Orlando, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Frances Brown and Gladys Doukas.
